New Youth Minister!

There is a new director of youth ministry for our parish church of Saint John's, and his name is Michael "Gomer" Gormley!  He was born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and moved to the Houston area when he was 16. Active in his high school Life Teen program, Mike realized he wanted to lead other people closer to Christ. So, in the Fall of 2001 he headed out to Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio for his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Theology. It was here that he met his bride (we got married on Saturday, June 27th!) Shannon, who was taking MA Theology classes. 

Leaving Steubenville half way through his own pursuit of the M.A. in Theology because he ran out of money and didn't want to plunge deeper into debt, both Mike and Shannon got jobs as youth ministers in the Houston area, where they faithfully sought to bring teens closer to Christ. After three and a half years, they both quit their jobs and headed back to Steubenville to finish their last semester, get their M.A. degrees and get married. 

So now Mike is living in the St. Francis House right here on the St. John Neumann campus with his new bride, Mrs. Shannon Gormley, and their super sweet Ikea furniture. Many thanks to all those who have helped their transition into their new home. THIS CHURCH IS INCREDIBLE!!!

St. John Neumann Life Teen and Confirmation:

St. John Neumann Youth Ministry Program serves youth from 9th-12th grade.  We have numerous programs throughout the academic year and during the summer.  Please contact our youth director, Mike Gormley  for more information.  Contact the parish office at 328-3220 ext 132 and ask to speak to one of the youth ministry staff for assistance.

If you have a 9th grade student who will be confirmed in their sophmore year please sign him/her up for "Confirmation Formation year 2" as well as " High School Religion Class (life nights)".

If you have a 10th grader who will be confirmed in the spring please sign him/her up for "High School Religion Class (life nights)".There will be a "confirmation class " to sign up for after Nov 1st. It will begin the first part of January.
